lethal dose 50

The amount of a single dose of a solid or liquid substance required to kill 50% of the tested population. It is usually expressed in mg/kg (milligram of material per kilogram of body weight) and is used for all routes of exposure other than inhalation. Compare "lethal concentration 50".
