A Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), a class of software that, while not strictly malicious, exhibits undesirable behavior and is often installed without the user's full understanding. These programs can include adware, spyware, or system modification tools bundled with legitimate software downloads. Security software identifies PUPs because they can degrade system performance, compromise privacy, or display intrusive advertisements.
