1. An aggregation of information system components that is designated for configuration management and treated as a single entity in the configuration management process.
2. An interval estimate [low, high] of a population parameter. If the population is repeatedly sampled, and confidence intervals are computed for each sample with significance level α, approximately 100(1- α) % of the intervals are expected to contain the true population parameter.
3. System and assets, whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters.
4. Essential services and related assets that underpin American society and serve as the backbone of the nation's economy, security, and health.
5. An item or aggregation of hardware or software or both that is designed to be managed as a single entity. Configuration items may vary widely in complexity, size and type, ranging from an entire system including all hardware, software and documentation, to a single module, a minor hardware component or a single software package.
6. Systems and assets, whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on cybersecurity, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters.
