cyberspace exploitation

1. Actions taken in cyberspace to gain intelligence, maneuver, collect information, or perform other enabling actions required to prepare for future military operations.

2. Enabling operations and intelligence collection capabilities conducted through the use of computer networks to gather data from target or adversary information systems or networks.
Note: Within the Department of Defense (DoD), term was approved for deletion from JP 1-02 (DoD Dictionary). Original source of term was JP 1-02 (DoD Dictionary). The military no longer uses this term to describe these operations, but it is still used outside of military operations.
