Digital Fingerprint

Term · Cybersecurity · MLC-T-CYB-001373

1. A hash that uniquely identifies data. Changing a single bit in the data stream used to generate the message digest will yield a completely different message digest.

2. A digital signature that uniquely identifies data and has the property that changing a single bit in the data will cause a completely different message digest to be generated.

3. A crytpographic checksum, typically generated for a file that can be used to detect changes to the file.. Synonyous with hash value/result.

4. A digital signature that uniquely identifes data and has the property that changing a single bit in the data will cause a completely different message diges to be generated.

5. See Digital Fingerprint

6. The result of applying a hash function to a message.

7. See message digest.
