1. An organization that customizes (e.g., combines, adds, optimizes) elements, processes, and systems. The integrator function can be performed by acquirer, integrator, or supplier organizations.
2. A value-added engineering organization that focuses on industrial control and information systems, manufacturing execution systems, and plant automation, that has application knowledge and technical expertise, and provides an integrated solution to an engineering problem. This solution includes final project engineering, documentation, procurement of hardware, development of custom software, installation, testing, and commissioning.
