1. A function that can be used to generate output from a random seed and a data variable such that the output is computationally indistinguishable from truly random output.
2. Pseudorandom Function.
3. A function that can be used to generate output from a secret random seed and a data variable, such that the output is computationally indistinguishable from truly random output. In this Recommendation, an approved message authentication code (MAC) is used as a pseudorandom function in the key expansion step, where a key derivation key is used as the secret random seed.
