Secure channel

Term · Cybersecurity · MLC-T-CYB-003755

1. A MACsec security relationship used to provide security guarantees for frames transmitted from one member of a Connectivity Association (CA) to the others. An SC is supported by a sequence of Secure Associations (SAs) thus allowing the periodic use of fresh keys without terminating the relationship.

2. A path for transferring data between two entities or components that ensures confidentiality, integrity and replay protection, as well as mutual authentication between the entities or components. The secure channel may be provided using cryptographic, physical or procedural methods, or a combination thereof.

3. A path for transferring data between two entities or components that ensures confidentiality, integrity and replay protection, as well as mutual authentication between the entities or components. The secure channel may be provided using approved cryptographic, physical or procedural methods, or a combination thereof. Sometimes called a trusted channel.

4. A path for transferring data between two entities or components that ensures confidentiality, integrity, and replay protection as well as mutual authentication between the entities or components. The secure channel may be provided using cryptographic, physical, or procedural methods or a combination thereof.
