A civilian, described by Article 4 of the Geneva Convention, Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, who is in the custody or control of Armed Forces of the United States during an armed conflict or occupation, including those held for imperative reasons of security or protection, who generally qualifies for protected status under the Geneva Conventions.
