Disinfection Byproducts

1. A compound formed by the reaction of a disinfenctant such as chlorine with organic material in the water supply; a chemical byproduct of the disinfection process.
2. Organic and inorganic compounds that often result from the reaction between a disinfectant and naturally occurring materials in water; chloroform is a commonly found example.
