Ecological production functions

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-008876

Usable expressions (i.e., models) of the processes by which ecosystems produce intermediate or final ecosystem services, often including external influences on those processes. Context: The definition and specification of ecological production functions are used as part of modeling approaches to quantify how changes in one part of a natural system result in changes in another. Example: The relationship between a plant's uptake of soil nutrients (as an input) and its rate of biomass growth (as an output) can be represented by an ecological production function.
