Fan car
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002168
A piece of railway maintenance equipment designed to clear snow, sand, or other light debris from the tracks using one or more powerful, engine-driven fans. These fans generate a high-velocity air blast directed at the track area to blow away obstructions. Some versions, known as jet snow blowers, use a repurposed jet engine to produce an even more powerful blast for clearing heavy, deep snow drifts.
