An acronym for Geological Rover, a prototype planetary exploration vehicle developed by NASA to test technologies for operating in extreme polar environments. This semi-autonomous, solar-powered rover was designed to carry a ground-penetrating radar for studying ice sheets and glaciers, simulating missions on icy moons or Mars. The vehicle was field-tested in Greenland in 2013 and weighed approximately 800 kilograms.
