Mailcatcher

A device formerly used on railway post office cars to snatch mailbags from trackside cranes without stopping the train. This mechanism allowed for the efficient exchange of mail in rural areas or at smaller stations. The mailcatcher system was largely phased out with the decline of railway post offices.
