The system of measurement used in typography and printing for specifying the dimensions of type, spacing, and page layout. It establishes a standardized set of units for length and height, allowing for consistent and precise composition. The primary units are the point, for measuring font size and leading, and the pica, for measuring line length and column width, with approximately 72 points equaling one inch.
