Unfunded retention

A risk financing method where an organization chooses to bear its own losses without setting aside specific funds in advance to cover those potential losses. Instead, losses are paid out of current operating cash flow or general assets as they occur. This approach carries higher financial risk compared to funded retention or self-insurance.
