Black blizzard

A severe dust storm, particularly common in the Great Plains of the United States during the 1930s Dust Bowl era. These events are characterized by extremely strong winds lifting vast quantities of topsoil, reducing visibility to near zero and creating conditions similar to a snow blizzard. They can cause widespread agricultural damage and respiratory problems.
