Term · Oncology and biomedicine · MLC-T-ONC-009359

  1. A laboratory method that is used to learn the exact order of all of the building blocks (nucleotides) that make up a person’s genome (complete set of DNA). WGS is used to find changes that may cause diseases, such as cancer. Also called whole genome sequencing.

  2. A laboratory process that is used to determine nearly all of the approximately 3 billion nucleotides of an individual’s complete DNA sequence, including non-coding sequence. Also called whole genome sequencing.
