Claims (18)
- A non-PVC plastisol made of a stereoregular polystyrene, having a particle size of 10-50 microns and a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 1,000,000 and about 25-85% by weight of a plasticizer.
- The plastisol of claim 1, wherein the polystyrene is about 75%-100% isotactic.
- The plastisol of claim 1, wherein the polystyrene is about 80-95% isotactic.
- The plastisol of claim 1, wherein the polystyrene is about 20%-75% syndiotactic.
- The plastisol of claim 1, wherein the polystyrene is about 35%-50% syndiotactic.
- The plastisol of claim 2 or 3, wherein the polystyrene has a weight average molecular weight of about 200,000 to 1,000,000.
- The plastisol of claim 4 or 5 wherein the polystyrene has a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to 200,000.
- The plastisol of claim 1, wherein the plasticizer is selected from the group consisting of alkyl phthalates, alkyl-aryl phthalates, isophthalates, terephthalates, phosphate esters, adipates and blends thereof.
- The plastisol of claim 8, wherein the plasticizer is selected from the group consisting of tricresylphosphate, triisopropylphenyl phosphate, triphenyl phosphate, di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, ditridecyl adipate and blends thereof.
- A process for making a plastisol, the steps comprising blending 15-75 weight percent of a stereoregular polystyrene having a particle size of 10-50 microns and a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 1,000,000, with a plasticizer.
- The process of claim 10, wherein the polystyrene is about 75%-100% isotactic.
- The process of claim 10, wherein the polystyrene is about 80%-95% isotactic.
- The process of claim 10, wherein the polystyrene is about 20%-75% syndiotactic.
- The process of claim 10, wherein the polystyrene is about 35%-50% syndiotactic.
- The process of claim 11 or 12, wherein the polystyrene has a weight average molecular weight 200,000 to 1,000,000.
- The process of claim 13 or 14, wherein the polystyrene has a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 200,000.
- The process of claim 10, wherein the plasticizer is selected from the group consisting of alkyl phthalates, alkyl-aryl phthalates, isophthalates, terephthalates, phosphate esters, adipates and blends thereof.
- The process of claim 10, wherein the plasticizer is selected from the group consisting of tricresylphosphate, triisopropylphenyl phosphate, triphenyl phosphate, di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, ditridecyl adipate and blends thereof.
