Mine tailings

Material separated as refuse or separately treated as inferior in quality or value. The sand, gravel and cobbles which pass through sluices in placer mining. Refuse material resulting from the washing, concentration or treatment of ground ore. The residual after most of a valuable ore has been extracted.
