Beta software

A pre-release version of a software application made available to a group of users outside of the development team for real-world testing. This phase follows the internal alpha testing phase and precedes the final release. The purpose of a beta test is to uncover bugs, usability issues, and compatibility problems before the software is distributed to the general public.
