Hard token

A physical device used to authorize access to a computer system or network as a factor in multi-factor authentication. It provides proof of possession by generating a one-time password, containing a stored digital certificate, or responding to a cryptographic challenge. This device can be a small keychain fob with a digital display showing a changing code or a USB-based key that requires a physical touch to operate.
