Toolchain

A set of programming tools used in a sequence to perform a complex software development task, such as creating an executable program from source code. Each tool performs a specific step, passing its output as the input to the next tool in the chain. A typical C++ toolchain includes a preprocessor, a compiler, an assembler, and a linker, all of which are orchestrated by a build automation tool.
