1. A comprehensive and precisely defined sequence of steps or procedural rules used to produce cipher text from plain text and vice versa.
2. The embodiment of one (or more) cryptographic algorithm(s) along with alarms, checks, and other processes essential to effective and secure performance of the cryptographic process(es).
