pseudonymization
Term · Cybersecurity · MLC-T-CYB-003355
1. De-identification technique that replaces an identifier (or identifiers) for a data principal with a pseudonym in order to hide the identity of that data principal.
2. a particular type of de-identification that both removes the association with a data subject and adds an association between a particular set of characteristics relating to the data subject and one or more pseudonyms. Typically, pseudonymization is implemented by replacing direct identifiers with a pseudonym, such as a randomly generated value.
