  1. Physical, mental, or emotional condition that substantially limits an individual from one or more daily life activities.

    Note: The Current Population Survey (CPS) asks six questions that determine whether a person is classified as having a disability. For more information on the disability questions and the limitations of the CPS disability data, see "Frequently asked questions about disability data."

  2. A long-lasting physical, mental, or emotional condition. This condition can make it difficult for a person to do activities such as walking, climbing stairs, dressing, bathing, learning, or remembering. This condition can also impede a person from being able to go outside the home alone or to work at a job or business.
