Incorporated place

A type of governmental unit incorporated under state law having legally prescribed powers and functions. Types of incorporated places include cities, towns (except the New England states, New York, and Wisconsin), boroughs (except in Alaska and New York), and villages. Hawaii and Guam do not contain any incorporated places.
