Acquired Land

Lands in federal ownership which were obtained by the government through purchase, condemnation, of gift, of by exchange. They are one category of public land. The part of the U.S. public domain to which title is still vested in the federal government and that is subject to appropriation, sale, or disposal under the general laws. (DOI Bureau of Land Management, 1999b).
