Air pollution control device
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-000877
1. Mechanism or equipment that cleans emissions generated by a source (e.g. an incinerator, industrial smokestack, or an automobile exhaust system) by removing pollutants that would otherwise be released to the atmosphere.
2. One or more processes used to treat the exit gas from a sewage sludge incinerator stack.
3. Catalytic oxidizer, acid-water scrubber, or any other air pollution control equipment that reduces the quantity of ethylene oxide in the effluent gas stream from sterilization and aeration processes.
4. Any equipment that reduces the quantity of a pollutant that is emitted to the air.
5. Equipment installed on a process vent, storage tank, wastewater treatment exhaust stack, or combination thereof that reduces the mass of HAP emitted to the air. The equipment may consist of an individual device or a series of devices. Examples include, but are not limited to, incinerators, carbon adsorption units, condensers, flares, boilers, process heaters, and gas absorbers. Process condensers are not considered air pollution control devices or control devices.
6. Equipment used to reduce the release of particulate matter and other pollutants to the atmosphere.
7. Examples of APCD currently used on glaze spray booths include, but are not limited to, wet scrubbers, fabric filters, water curtains, and water-wash systems.
8. Air pollution control equipment used to collect particulate matter and other emissions from a gas stream.
