Alternative-fuel vehicle

1. A vehicle designed to operate on an alternative fuel (e.g., compressed natural gas, methane blend, electricity). The vehicle could be either a dedicated vehicle designed to operate exclusively on alternative fuel or a nondedicated vehicle designed to operate on alternative fuel and/or a traditional fuel.
2. Dedicated, flexible fuel, or dual-fuel vehicle designed to operate on at least one alternative fuel.
3. Vehicles that are able to operate on fuel other than gasoline and diesel. Configurations include dedicated AFV, flex-fuel vehicles and bifuel vehicles. A percentage of the vehicles acquired each year by the federal government are required to be AFV by the Energy Policy Act (EPACT) and Executive Order (EO) 13149.
