Annual Cover Crop

Annual crop planted as a rotation between primary planted crops or between trees and vines in orchards and vineyards, typically to protect soil from erosion and to improve the soil between periods of regular crops. An annual cover crop has no existing market to which it can be sold except for its use as feedstock for the production of renewable fuel. [40 CFR 80.1401 (CFR 2013)]
