Area-sensitive species

1. Species that respond negatively to decreasing habitat patch size (Finch 1991:20).

2. Wildlife needing large, unfragmented areas in a certain successional stage to provide some or all of their habitat requirements. When habitat is frangmented or shrunken, the animals have difficulty adapting.
