1. Considerations recommended by EPA for evaluating the quality and relevance of scientific and technical information. The five assessment factors are soundness, applicability and utility, clarity and completeness, uncertainty and variability, and evaluation and review (EPA 2003b).

2. Numerical adjustment used to extrapolate from experimentally determined (dose-response) relationships to estimate the agent exposure below which an adverse effect is not likely to occur. [IPCS/OECD 2004]
