Bacterial Spore

1. Heat and stain resistant, metabolically inactive bodies formed within the vegetative cells of bacteria of the genera Bacillus and Clostridium.

2. Refractile body formed within bacteria, especially genera of the family Bacillaceae, which is regarded as a resting stage during the life history of the cell, and is characterized by its resistance to environmental changes.
