Baghouse

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-002691

1. Control device that collects particulate matter by filtering the gas stream through bags. A baghouse is also referred to as a “fabric filter.”

2. Add-on air pollution control system that removes particulate matter (PM) and nonvaporous metals emissions by passing flue gas through filter bags.

3. A dust-collection chamber containing numerous permeable fabric filters through which the exhaust gases pass. Finer particulates entrained in the exhaust gas stream are collected in the filters for subsequent treatment/disposal.

4. This term is often used interchangeably with the term "filtration systems." However, it is applicable only to pulse jet, cartridge, reverse air, and shaker-type filtration systems. The term "baghouse" does not have any clear meaning for HEPA filtration systems.
