Bayesian Analysis

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-002899

1. Bayesian analysis is a method of statistical inference in which the knowledge of prior events is used to predict future events. Bayes' Theorem is a means of quantifying uncertainty.

2. Statistical analysis that describes the probability of an event as the degree of belief or confidence that a person has, given some state of knowledge, that the event will occur. Bayesian Monte Carlo combines a prior probability distribution and a likelihood function to yield a posterior distribution. Also called subjective view of probability, in contrast to the frequentist view of probability.

3. Method of statistical inference in which the knowledge of prior events is used to predict future events. Bayes' Theorem is a means of quantifying uncertainty,
