Beach and Dune Habitat

The Beach is an area of land at the ocean shore, marked by an accumulation of sand, stone, and other sediment that has been deposited by the water, and is exposed to and shaped by waves and wind; does not usually support permanent vegetation. A Dune is a hill or ridge of sand that has accumulated by wind-driven transport, representing a gradient from sea to land; serves as a habitat for various fauna and may support permanent vegetation.
