1. One of the major component of an organism; e.g. blood, fatty tissue, lymph nodes or breath, in which chemicals can be stored or transformed.
2. Any one of the major categories of material within an organism (blood, adipose tissue, breath), through which chemicals can move, be stored, or be biologically, physically, or chemically transformed.
