Bypass Stack

1. Device used for discharging combustion gases to avoid severe damage to the air pollution control device or other equipment.[40 CFR 60.51c (CFR 2013)] [40 CFR 62.14490 (CFR 2018)]

2. Stack that vents exhaust gases to the atmosphere from the bypass control device.

3. Any duct, stack, or conduit through which emissions from an affected unit may or do pass to the atmosphere, which either augments or substitutes for the principal stack exhaust system or ductwork during any portion of the unit's operation.
