Carbonaceous Biochemical Oxygen Demand
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-004194
1. The biochemical oxygen demand of carbonaceous sources. This differs from BOD in that BOD measures both nitrogenous and carbonaceous sources, whereas CBOD excludes nitrogenous sources (e.g., nitrifying bacteria) from determination through the addition of a nitrification inhibitor.
2. Oxygen demand exerted by organic carbon compounds present; oxygen required to convert organic carbon to carbon dioxide.
