A water-borne preservative containing active ingredients that are inorganic metal oxides, or less frequently salts, and are commonly used to treat dimensional lumber and telephone poles.\n\n2. Inorganic arsenic compounds are mainly used to preserve wood. Copper chromated arsenic (CCA) is used to make \"pressure-treated\" lumber. CCA is no longer used in the U.S. for residential uses; it is still used in industrial applications. Organic arsenic compounds are used as pesticides, primarily on cotton plants.\n\n3. Chemical wood preservative consisting of mixtures of water-soluble chemicals containing metal oxides of chromium, copper, and arsenic. CCA is used in pressure treated wood to protect wood from rotting due to insects and microbial agents.",
