1. The process of determining the sequence or order in which to arrange documents. See also ARRANGEMENT, FILE DESIGNATION.
2. The process or result of identifying records containing national security information. See also CLASSIFIED INFORMATION, DECLASSIFICATION.
3. A classification system separates items into classes or groups in order to organize items in a library collection, index, or database.
4. Classification if the first step of an impact assessment and is the process of assigning inventory outputs into specific environmental impact categories.
