Cogeneration
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-005520
1. The generation of electricity and the capture and use of otherwise wasted heat energy byproducts. Cogeneration is also referred to as a combined heat and power (CHP) system.
2. The consecutive generation of useful thermal and electric energy from the same fuel source.
3. Production of two useful forms of energy such as high-temperature heat and electricity from the same process.
4. Cogeneration is the simultaneous production of heat and electricity, commonly called combined heat and power (CHP), from a single fuel.
5. Steam-generating unit that simultaneously produces both electrical and useful thermal (or mechanical) energy from the same primary energy source.
