Inorganic or organic fertilizers that are characterized by a slow rate of release, long residual, low burn potential, and low water solubility. Several categories of slow-release nitrogen fertilizers are commercially available, including urea-formaldehyde, isobutylidene diurea, sulfur coated urea, plastic coated fertilizers, and natural organics.
