Cyanides and Cyanide Compounds

1. Inorganic salts of HYDROGEN CYANIDE containing the -CN radical. The concept also includes isocyanides. It is distinguished from NITRILES, which denotes organic compounds containing the -CN radical.
2. X⁺CN⁻ where X = H⁺ or any other group where a formal dissociation can be made. For example KCN or Ca(CN)₂.
