Disastrous Hurricane

1. A cyclonic storm, usually of tropic origin, covering an extensive area, and containing winds in excess of 75 miles per hour.

2. A tropical cyclone in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, or eastern Pacific, which the maximum 1-minute sustained surface wind is 64 knots (74 mph) or greater.

3. A giant swirling storm characterized by a low pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and flooding rain. A hurricane has wind speeds of 74 mph or greater.

4. A severe tropical cyclone having winds in excess of 64 knots (74 miles per hour).
