1. Cylindrical metal container with walls of 29 gauge or thicker and a capacity greater than 45.4 liters (12 gal).

2. Metal or plastic cylindrical containers with either an open-head or a tight-head (also known as bung-type top) used to hold liquid, solid, or gaseous commodities or cargos which are in direct contact with the container interior. Drums typically range in capacity from 30 to 55 gallons.

3. A type of container used to hold hazardous substances. For HRS purposes, drums are standard 55 - gallon cylindrical containers.
