Effluent Guidelines

1. Technical EPA documents that set effluent limitations for given industries and pollutants.
2. Technical documents developed by EPA which set discharge limits for particular types of industries and specific pollutants.
3. Technical EPA documents that set effluent limitations for given industries and pollutants. Restrictions established by a state or EPA on quantities, rates, and concentrations in wastewater discharges.
4. National standards for wastewater discharges to surface waters and publicly owned treatment works (municipal sewage treatment plants). EPA issues effluent guideline regulations for categories of dischargers under Title III of the Clean Water Act.
