Effluent limitation guideline

1. Regulation published by the Administrator under section 304(b) of CWA to adopt or revise “effluent limitations.”
2. Any effluent limitations guidelines issued by the Administrator pursuant to section 304(b) of the Act.
3. Any effluent limitations regulation issued by EPA pursuant to CWA section 304(b). These regulations are published to adopt or revise a national standard prescribing restrictions on quantities, rates, and concentrations of chemical, physical, biological, and other constituents that are discharged from point sources, in specific industrial categories (e.g., metal finishing, metal molding and casting). ELGs are sometimes referred to as effluent guidelines.
