1. Material or energy entering the system being studied that has been drawn from the environment without previous human transformation, or material or energy leaving the system being studied that is released into the environment without subsequent human transformation [Original source: [ISO] International Organization for Standardization. 2006. 2. Consists of three components: a flowable, or the name of a material, energy or space; a flow context; and a flow unit.
